Outcomes from the first two editions of FFMH
Making an impact
Our first two editions in July and August were a smashing success and an incredibly humbling experience, with over 500 meetings scheduled between 135 founders and over 35 investors from the top VCs in the region.
The aim of FFMH has always been to set female founders up for success and eventually help close the huge funding gap between male and female founders through a collaborative spirit. In the last two editions of FFMH, we’re encouraged by the fact that at least half of the investors had follow up meetings with up to 4 founders. Additionally, we know anecdotally of three startups have received a term sheet from FFMH investors.
We have also shared all 135 applications with participating mentors, giving female founders greater visibility to investors.
Feedback
We have received some humbling positive feedback across our two events from both founders and mentors:
From Founders
FFMH was a great initiative from Cocoon Cap to help female founders bring their ideas to life. The gender gap in Asia’s funding is a symptom of a much larger system and I’m glad Cocoon Cap started to work tackling it. It’s a great step in the right direction and glad to have been included in the event. It was a great way to meet investors, practice my pitch, and learn how to improve the execution of my idea. I definitely recommend all female founders to check future events. — Niki @ Chief Best Friends
A fantastic opportunity to meet investors and gain valuable feedback that could otherwise be difficult to obtain. Thanks for helping level the playing field for female founders 💪🏼 — Josie @ Capture
The event was a great opportunity for founders to connect with investors who were genuine about lending their support and expertise. FFMH’s format is especially relevant given COVID-19 and offers founders a unique way to build their network — Athena @ Zumvet
From Investors
Cocoon’s ethos, paired with the breadth of personas and diversity in those giving advice forms a compelling proposition for anyone seeking guidance or insights — Reena @ Investible
Really happy to be part of this great initiative. Kudos to Cocoon’s team for organizing at a high standard. I enjoyed speaking to inspirational ladies, exchanging great ideas and providing perspectives. This is an event you should not miss. — Joe @ TNB Aura
We are incredibly thankful for all the support, and hope to grow FFMH into a sustainable programme that lasts beyond each mentoring session.
